WNCC 2008 Puzzle 4
This week’s puzzle is a pleasant little story…
Next to a single story dwelling, rested a pink, rather dirty-faced pixie people knew as Edgar. Prior to arriving in his current state, Edgar, was glibly goofing off with his other magical friends, especially Bill (who for some reason was more commonly known as Harry). Harry and Edgar wanted to find treasure so much, the formed a club: Find The Loot Group. The goal of the group was readily apparent: to get rich through finding loot! Unfortunately, it was proving more difficult than expected, and that was the rub. To find gold easily was the purpose, however the execution of the purpose was difficult.
Being magical creatures, Harry and Edgar thought treasure easily found, and the process made them feel pretty dumb, doing a lot of legwork with nothing to show for their efforts. Harry had the idea to search the web, casing Internet sites for clues. Edgar dismissed it though. He thought to find treasure they would have to dig. Harry went along with it. So the two of them got shovels and started digging. After a few hours and many holes, they heard a bang! as a shovel hit something! They dug around the edges and cleaned off the top only to find out their discovery was an underground vault.
Discouraged, our no-longer-quite-so-dynamic duo despaired and filled the hole again. Afterward, they rested.
While they sat, Frank (a friendly manticore) approached and asked why they were there and so very dirty. He was told the reason. He then replied, “Of course you’re not going to find anything that way! You’ve got to bf smarter! It’s like seeking honey: you’ve got to follow the bees.”
Wasn’t that a good and helpful story?
